North Bay Attains Its Fair Share of Transportation Funding- NBLC Instrumental
Funding Allocated to Marin & Sonoma Narrows/North Bay Transportation Improvement Projects from Prop. 1B
2007
Transportation, congestion reduction, and improved commute patterns in the North Bay, is one of NBLC's main areas of concern. After the passage of Proposition 1B, the California Transportation Commission (CTC) began the process of allocating funds in 2007. When the North Bay was left off of the list of top priorities, NBLC knew that there needed to be an advocate for the North Bay; home to the third most heavily congested corridor in the Bay Area. NBLC took action and was the only present entity to testify before the CTC in order to obtain funding for the Marin/Sonoma Narrows and other North Bay transportation improvements for the 101 corridor. After the North Bay hearing, NBLC partnered with elected officials and organizations such as Senator Migden, Assemblyman Huffman, and Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM). Together this group was successful in obtaining an additional $102 million in funding granted by the CTC from Proposition 1B.
