Mission

The Education Committee serves as a means for North Bay Leadership Council members to foster collaborations between educational leaders and the business community. Legislative activities include supporting health careers and green sustainability, and collaboratively supporting legislative issues with the business community.
Other major issues for this committee are in regards to educational institution funding and workforce development.
Activities and Accomplishments
The Education Committee oversees the growth and sustainment of the Roger Grossman Scholarship Fund for Community Service, through a partnership with the Marin Education Fund.
In 2004, the scholarship was established to honor the civic leadership of one of NBLC's directors, Roger Grossman. The scholarship provides assistance to financially needy students in Marin
and Sonoma County who are interested in pursuing a business career and have demonstrated a commitment to community service.
Consideration is amongst high school graduating seniors in Marin or Sonoma County as well as students attending post-secondary school in California. One scholarship is awarded in Marin County and one in Sonoma County in the amount of $1,500 to $2,500. Recipients are chosen based on their financial need, commitment to community service and interest in pursuing a business-related degree. With Roger’s recent passing, North Bay Leadership Council will not only continue to award this scholarship, but will also honor his life by remembering him through it.
The Education committee also works closely with Marin County School to Career Partnership. This is a valuable partnership to the council, one that involves the participation in providing internships and job shadowing to high school students throughout the North Bay.
